This coffee is sourced from family-owned farms within the Hafursa Cooperative in southern Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia. Established in 1975, the cooperative includes about 893 members who grow coffee on small, shaded plots intercropped with banana and other soil-supporting crops. In 2002, Hafursa joined the Yirgacheffe Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union (YCFCU), which promotes sustainable coffee production in Ethiopia’s Gedeo region. The YCFCU now represents 26 cooperatives and more than 35,000 farmers.
